<12/02/2022] 12/06/2022 - Hit and miss [12/09/2022>Hit and miss is how I would describe my predictions of daylight based scenes and how they actually turn out at night. This mornings venture I had two targets in mind so having one actually turn out well is part of the thrill of the hunt I suppose. The theme in mind has been to include a bus stop in someway, here I found that scene. Luck of having the clouds was a happy accident. <12/09/2022] 12/10/2022 - Downtown Odessa [12/14/2022>In the quest to keep taking pictures and still be different the mind cast for a subject to explore. The underpass at 2nd & Grant is easily accessed and has some decor but provided an unique point of view. View in the underpass 1 of 2. View in the underpass 2 of 2. Walking around and at 2nd & Lincoln the art on the wall caught my eye. On the way back home along Grant finally captured the Christmas lights at Odessa College. <12/10/2022] 12/14/2022 - Follow the lights [12/15/2022>My target was where Grant meets I-20 going on a vision of a scene imagined during the day. While there was most the element lit up enough the composition wasn't right, not a wasted trip because every trip out is a potential scouting session. What saved this was a familiar shape lit up green and red that I drove to instead. 10th & Maple - The old Clothe World tower lit up for Christmas. I wasn't heading here on purpose but the resulting image turned out well and I learned some post processing techniques from it. <12/14/2022] 12/15/2022 - Foreground and backgrounds [12/16/2022>Daylight shots I see what I can capture with ease but existing light is sight unseen until it gets dark and the lights that will come on do. I build the image in my head and predict what lights might be on but transforming it to an image I capture is hit and miss at best. Is this a taste of the film days when a live preview didn't exist and the results less predictable, if so there is a certain level of anticipation I do like. Redondo & Unversity - I saw this wrap around bench and it fit within including the intersection so I drove out to try for it. It turned out good and I refined some of my processing for images like this. [Back to Top] [Back to Current Projects] [Back to Galleries] [Back to Main Page] |
<12/15/2022] 12/16/2022 - Morning adventures [12/21/2022>see also A photographer's view of Odessa, TX for 1 more image.Along Parkway was two elements adjacent to each other that caught my eye. I like the results but the process I applied and the nature of the scene don't quite match, by this I mean the overblown lights that I can't restore and can't be processed out because of how prominent they are. The nature of existing light photography will have these issues and I rethought the approach a bit as a result of the image. <12/21/2022] 02/04/2023 - Roaming again at night [02/21/2023>Parkway & Oakwood - Random target that gave me a new view of the water tower. Got two images but this one made the cut. University & close to Loop 338 - With only two images for the session I gave another area a try. The image works at first glance but the lens flare taught me a new trick, notice the art installation is seen in it. The realization was a darker background in front of the lens and area of the flare do this. [Back to Top] [Back to Current Projects] [Back to Galleries] [Back to Main Page] |
